چکیده

The proposed ATLAS detector for the 27 km circumference LHC collider is of unprecedented size and complexity. The magnet configuration is based on an inner superconducting solenoid and large superconducting air-core toroids (barrel and two end-caps) each made of eight coils symmetrically arranged outside the calorimetry. The total cold mass approaches 600 tons and the stored energy is 1.7 GJ. The cryogenic infrastructure will include a 6 kW @ 4.5 K refrigerator, a precooling unit and distribution systems and permits flexible operation during cool-down, normal running and quench recovery. A dedicated LN2 refrigeration system is proposed for the three liquid argon calorimeters (84 m3 of LAr). Magnets and calorimeters will be individually tested prior to their definitive installation in a large scale cryogenic test area on the surface. The experiment is scheduled to be operational in 2005. 1CERN LHC Division, 2RAL, Chilton, UK, 3CEA, Saclay, France, 4KEK, Tsukuba, Japan. Presented at ICEC 16/ICMC, Kitakyushu, Japan, 20-24 May 1996

Saving Energy by Exergetic Analysis of MTP Process Refrigeration System

The exergetic analysis is a tool that has been used successfully in many studies aiming a more rational energy consumption to reduce the cost of processes. With this analysis, it is possible to perform an evaluation of the overall process, locating and quantifying the degradation of exergy. This paper applies exergy approach for analyzing the heat exchanger network design and refrigeration of M...

Optimal Synthesis of a Cascade Refrigeration System of LNG Through MINLP Model for Pure Refrigerant Cycles

liquefied natural gas (LNG) is the most economical way of transporting natural gas (NG) over long distances. Liquefaction of NG by using vapor compression refrigeration system requires high operating and capital cost. Due to lack of systematic design methods for multistage refrigeration cycles, the conventional approaches of determining optimal cycle configuration are mostly based on trial-an...

Advanced Analysis of Dew Point Control Unit of Hybrid Refrigeration Systems in Gas Refineries

In this paper, an advanced analysis of a novel hybrid compression-absorption refrigeration system (HCARS) for natural gas dew point control unit in a gas refinery is presented. This unit separates the heavy hydrocarbon molecules in the natural gas, which is traditionally carried out by natural gas cooling in a compression refrigeration cycle (CRS). The power input required for the refrigeration...

اثر مادون سرد کردن مایع خروجی از کندانسور در سیستم‌های تبرید ترکیبی توسط سیکل جذبی آب- آمونیاک

This paper investigates the effects of subcooling the condenser outlet refrigerant in a compression refrigeration by an absorption refrigeration in an integrated refrigeration system from energy view point. For this purpose the thermodynamic system is analyzed, base on the mass and energy equation and also the effects of operating parameters such as prime mover, ambient temperature and evaporat...

Exergy Analysis of a Novel Combined System Consisting of a Gas Turbine, an Organic Rankine Cycle and an Absorption Chiller to Produce Power, Heat and Cold

The current work investigates the exergy analysis of a new system to generate power, heat, and refrigeration. In the proposed system, the heat loss of a gas turbine (GT) is first recovered by a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSD), then by an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) to generate warm water and additional power, respectively. In the ORC, reheating is used to increase the output power, the req...
